With a last minute line up change Cold Trigger Stepped in to Fill the spot of Red Enemey and did a great job.
Every band that played was fantastic. The crowd was awesome and it was a thouraghly enjoyable night!
Thanks to all the bands for putting on such a great show and making things run so smoothly.
I would strongly consider putting on a show like this again so thanks everybody..
Ange
- Rob here, just wanna say on behalf of the whole band, that we really appreciated the support and love from everyone who came to see us in Phantom FM's Battle of the Bands. We didn't really know what to expect when we asked for support but we were really spurred on by all those who showed up, and despite the bad sound in the venue, we did our damndest to rock the place and I think we did a pretty good job!!! So good in fact, Moe couldn't stand up anymore and hit the deck right in the first song!! If anyone has pics of this, please forward them on...
We didn't win the contest but judging by the reaction of the people who came up to me at the end, I think we made some new friends so thanks, it means a lot.

- Man the stage in fibbers was like an inferno lastnight, but it didn't stop us kickin ass with the legendary Eoghain Anaxandridas II on guitar, he played an excellent show!! Thanks to all who came out, your support as always is muchly appreciated.
- Our last show of 2007, we're gonna make it count!!
- Well what can I say, lastnights gig in the boom boom room kicked ass! An added bonus was getting to see rocket surgery fuck the minds of the crowd with some stunningly beautiful and cryptic melodies before we went on. All that was left for us to do was fuck them up some more - and that we did!!! Thanks to everyone who came out to see us on such a shitty wet and cold night - its cos of you we keep doin what we do, and we will never give up!!
- A re-organised gig due to the one that was canelled in June (that we played anyway). You have to see Speedking, it's one of the things everyone should do before they die.
- Our first gig for promoter Napiergen.X promises some decent heavy acts. Come early cause it's cheap.
- This is a Garageland gig featuring The Stimulants, The Revellz one other act and of course the legendary Syllian Rayle. Doors at 7.30 and a tenner in. Come prepared.
- This is our first show outside Dublin in a long time. Should be a good gig though, we're playing with two other bands called The Backlanes Band and Vesta Varro. We're on early for this one so don't be late. There's a party afterwards too in the town.
- A very last minute show for Garageland promotions. Played a short set but wend down a treat. The after gig interview will be available soon.
- Our debut performance in the Sugar Club, brought to you by Soundgate Promotions!!
- So we were all set to open for the mighty Speedking lastnight in Eamonn Dorans, but we got a call 2 days previously to say they had to cancel! Yes we were completely pissed about it, but we said fuck it lets play anyway. So we scraped together a show which seemed destined for failure, that was until we hit the stage!! It was amazing, an atmosphere the like of which I have never seen in Eamonn Doran's enveloped everyone and we had a seriously kick ass show on our hands! A full on, tight and captivating performance coupled with an enthusiasitc crowd led to what was probably our best gig. It was amazing to see so many people beating the shit out of eachother for When She Died and Pseudokyn, and I can't thank everyone enough for the interaction in Open Wound! After a brief hiatus from the stage it was great to be back and to be received so well.
- A night of madness with Red River and Naxalite! These are two bands that are definitely worth a watch.
- An absolutely amazing night! Great performances from Vita Luna and Hirise!
- Paddy's Day ended wth a BANG - it was AWESOME!!!!!
- Have you ever gone to a gig to see a band support themselves? No, well here's your chance! Syllian Rayle will be opening up the festivities with they're original style of Rock With Cock. Then Frantica will be taking the stage to satisfy your old school Metallica needs before Rob, Moe and Ross get up again with Kev McNamara as Layne for the second show by Angry Chair, their Alice in Chains band. A truly Rocking fucking night!
- That's about it really, no other info. I don't really have to tell ya that it's gonna rock anymore, you all know.
- Part of the Emergenza worldwide festival of music. This is basically an enormous battle of the bands. There'll be a total of 8 bands playing on the night and the voting is done by "clap-o-meter" ... so I'm hoping we'll make it through to the second round. If we get the reception we got from total strangers in Temple Bar on Monday at this gig, we'll go through without a problem. You guys rocked on Monday!
- This'll be another Soundgate gig but they're biggest one to date and we're headlining. Gotta get tickets in advance for this one people, so drop us a mail and we'll get one out to ya. They're a meer tenner a pop.
- Back by popular demand. Next time I think we'll be playing in Toxic John's living room.
- Part of the "100 bands in one day" thing around Dublin. There are all ages gigs during the day in The Vaults and then some night shows, including us, for grown ups only. Easy to get to too ... Directions: 1. Get out of your house away from your crazy family, 2. Go to Connolly station, 3. Go down.
- The annual Stephens' Day house party in La Verna has been relocated to Dorans this year as the festive spirit takes us into a new realm. This gig will be strictly metal versions of all your favourite Chrismas songs. I'm taking the piss of course.
- Following our most triumphant debut at Fibbers a couple weeks ago, we've been asked back to kick off the Iron Maiden aftershow party!!
- After the perfomance last time we were in Dorans, Soundgate has asked us back already. There'll be free CDs, hopefully some t-shirts too.
- THIS IS IT. This is the one we've been waiting for all this time. 3 a drink all night, and the Guinness isn't even bad!
Finally a decent shot at a venue we've been pining to get into, simply because it rocks. This may be the beginning of something big ... something with balls the size of apples. Don't come if you haven't seen "Cannibal Holocaust", cause you just won't be ready.
- Playing with HippleStreet and Sunset Vista. We always get a good sound in Voodoo, I know it's a bit to walk but you should come.
- Paul, we didn't trash your drum kit this time ... and we still won! Thanks to everyone who turned up and voted, we'll get another few songs recorded in Muso Studios for the imminent album.
- We'll be breakin in our sexy new bassist at this one, cum early to avoid disappointment! All drinks 3 euro too!
- Witness the band inflict their death defying stunts on an unassuming American crowd in the Big Apple as the band finish the Bray leg of the tour and move onto the New York leg. There shall be many a pint had in this fine establishment:
From The Trash Bar website: "Billiards and arcades are accompanied by truck stop kitsch and dirt cheap food. Trash additionally offers free tater tots with the purchase of any drink which can be accompanied by a hot dog for an extra 2 bucks. The cheapest place to drink in Williamsburg, Trash offers daily and nightly specials including after Midnight $5 Jack-n-Back, $2 beers, and an open bar from 9-10 every night of the week. (PBR and well drinks) in the back with paid admission to see the bands). Plus a two for one happy hour special from 5-8 daily that includes draughts, PBRs and well drinks."
- Our best gig so far - that is all!!!
- Wicked party in the middle of nowhere. Highlights included playing outside for five minutes and playing Veto songs!
- Dr. Satan, Cuntface, Fruit Loaf and The Swinger all made their debuts at this extremely intimate gig. It was amazing.
- Opening for Metallica tribute band Frantica.
- Delinkwints/Amps Ablaze/SYLLIAN RAYLE
- In association with Soundgate Music.
- Re-emerging from a lull in high profile gigs of late, Syllian Rayle geared themselves up for a show that would leave all the critics reeling, and they delivered.
Arriving early to avoid the crowds of fans they set up their kit, always careful not to disclose the details of the set list even to the sound engineer (who'd been flown in from a break in the Rammstein tour especially for the gig) with great efficiency. They relaxed in their private room before the gig, decked out with a 50 inch flat screen TV for the Chelsea match and a few groupies.
I was talking to the lead singer, Moe, before the performance. He said that he'd been feeling a little ill coming up to the gig because he knew that it was going to change his life. Today he was in an internationally successful Metal band and life was peachy but tomorrow .... he along with Ross, Simon and Rob may be considered Gods. He discussed the possibility of vomitting on stage he felt so bad.
In the mean time, Ross was sticking to his well practised relaxation technique of drinking Carlsberg and watching Chelsea win football matches. Ross tends not to get involved watching their support bands, as this may incur unwanted influence on his own act.
Rob doesn't get stressed before gigs at all, and I think this stems from an extreme confidence in his own abilities. Whether this confidence is justified or not ... well you had to see the show to determine that for yourself. Let me say but this: He doesn't bring this laid back attitude into the performance itself.
When I first arrived at the venue I met Simon as he was making his way in the stage door. He has a great talent for slipping under the radar of the fan possie by simply dressing to appear as if he is in some local unheard of this-is-our-fourth-show-but-we're-great rock band, a support band if you will. This was accomplished by donning a large black raincoat and drinking a pint of milk from the carton while entering. In a nice touch as well, Simon chooses to carry his own base guitar to the gig instead of letting the roadies pack it, only reinforcing the support band image.
The atmosphere before the gig was electric, and the packed out crowd were chanting "Syllian Rayle" and "CuntFace" before the last support act even graced the stage. I left the bands room (through the studded velvet door) to join the ruccous upstairs. The penultimate band were a good band, if only a covers band. They got the crowd warm with tunes from AC/DC, Velvet Revolver, Audioslave and Judas Priest. They left with their integrity intact.
In the darkness, while the army of roadies were performing their well choreographed routine to set up the stage, I could hear young people whisper to their freinds about legendary gigs of days past that they only heard about from their parents, and how this was sure to be a life changing event.
This intro music played ... the crowd erupted ... the band emerged ... Rob ... Moe ... Ross ... Simon (6 girls around me instantly fainted when seeing Simon) ... they opened "Dirge" up at 11 ...
...
When it was finally finished (with a final flurry from Rob and the destruction of his most impressive drum kit) I was covered in other peoples sweat and emotion. I wanted to stay forever. The lead singer, Moe, announced a previously unreleased gig on the Friday night following in a small intimate venue called Isaac Butts in Dublin. I had to get a ticket, I'd give my arms for one.
Tonight's the second gig and I have a ticket - after being a guest at the first gig, only two days later I had to pay a tout in South Africa 1,400 euro for a ticket. It promises to be even better.
- This performance was doomed from the start. With the mysterious relocation of the mic stand to begin with, the night went down hill for the band. Technical difficulties plagued them, but they overcame and rocked. When Simons guitar ran out of batteries last month, it seems that instead of putting a new one in, he accidentally replaced it with the first battery ever made. This led to a knife-as-screwdriver DIY session, but Con donated a battery of the moden era and all was good.
Before the gig Robs marketing talents shone. Within 5 mins of the start of the gig, every single person in the house was wearing a Syllian Rayle sticker. Some lucky bastards even got the highly desired, special edition, Snout & Rectum stickers.
The gig began and then came crashing down 1 bar later as Ross managed to break a string on the first chord. I think he got a little excited and rocked too hard. There was then a brief period of Moe talking shit, a little "Take your cow and fuck it", and we were back underway.
The performace was excellent, the acoustics were shite, Simon showcased some of his newfangled in-gig dancing routines, Ross didn't, Moe repeatedly got electrocuted by his mic, Happy birthday Natasha, end.
I could comment on the actual songs they played, but how do I? Noone seems to know the names of them! Anyway, that would make this a review, which it's not, just a recap. Anywho, Simon promptly produced a bottle mounted device and Ross got drunk. Moe reverted to Billy and I think Rob got lost somewhere for a while. They were accompanied by Constantine Ward and Darren Burke to form the long awaited Smumpkins. I'd say much about them but I only saw them actually play 2 Pumpkins songs, among many other covers. Con's amp nearly melted and he was the most pissed off man in the world for the duration of the gig. I was in the conservatory smoking joints at this time and listening to better music. Ironically, my iPod (on random) picked out the only 2 Pumpkins songs in a 51 track playlist and played them 1 & 2 while the Smumpkins were playing.
The night proceded to get giddier, probably due to the half inflated bouncey castle out the back. Simon created a fanastic Barbie Beer. Natasha was in great form and Ross was surprisingly alive too. Moe fell asleep after over-exhausting himself on the castle.
I think I robbed all of Ste Quinns cigarrettes.
- Totally Rocking gig is all I can say. Syllian Rayle were excellent. They were professional sounding, quality tunes and a fantastic frontman act from Moe. I sincerely recommend you watch that space!
